Lapsang Osprey Tea

Lapsang Osprey Loose Leaf

With Souchong meaning a fine black Chinese tea, and Lapsang meaning a pronounced smoky flavour and aroma, this gives you a rough idea of this product.

It comes all the way from the magnificent Wuyi Mountains, which have an elevation of 2,158 metres.

To create this unmistakable flavour, the leaves are smoked over a pine fire. Some variations of this tea get a bad reputation for being unpleasant and overly smoky, however you will only find this with low-quality leaves. At Adams and Russell we only supply the highest quality products, so this will not be the case for our customers.

These leaves differ from our other products due to the light tartness and smoky character. We say it a must try for those who haven’t experienced this kind of flavour in tea.

How to make Lapsang Tea

Brewing this beverage is not much different to the rest of our tea products, although we do recommend experimenting with these steps to bring out the different flavours and find out just how you like it.

Firstly, find a good quality teapot, as this has been proven to affect the quality of your drink. If you don’t yet have one, have a browse of our products as they are sure to give great results.

Usually we recommend one heaped teaspoon for every 8oz (227g) of water. However, if this is your first time with Lapsang Opsrey, perhaps start with a little less while you become familiar with the unique flavour.

Bring your water to the boil, making sure your leaves are ready, as you will need to pour the water straight off the boil for optimum brewing.

We recommend starting with a 2 minute brew time, and then it’s up to you to increase this time if you would like it a little stronger.

Lastly, pour your tea and enjoy!
