Burundi Turaco: About
Turaco takes its name from the bird that is native to Burundi. This coffee is sourced from multiple smallholders across the Northern regions of Ngozi & Kayanza.
IMPACT-verified. IMPACT is a responsible sourcing program that elevates and rewards the farmers who are working towards a more sustainable farming future.
Coffee Production in Burundi
Most coffee trees in Burundi are the Red Bourbon varietal. Many farmers have incredibly small coffee plantations, a vast majority of which are over 50 years old. Due to these factors, it is becoming increasingly unviable for the farmers to take trees out of production for the new plantings to yield. In response to this, coffee farming companies such as Greenco and Bugetsal are establishing nurseries and giving the seedlings to the farmers at cost. The aim of this is to encourage the farmers to experiment with growing different varietals.

First time we have used this particular Burudi but it’s another winner. Black or white we have awarded our own 9/10 award.

Outstanding!! Superb flavour, distinct nuances of red berries, pink pepper and rich velvety toffee. A brand new hugely loved favourite one! Highly recommended!
